Jerry! Is the materialization of our childhood memories, the hiding place of a lone inhabitant living in endless adventure.
The concept that guided the whole creative process was based on using architectural references from the universe of children’s cartoons.
There is nothing more playful and architectural than the famous rat house’s entrance, the classic arch cut off the wall. The house within the house, the tenant that nobody wants. The 140cm high, 80cm wide and 18kg laser-cut white aluminium sheet leans on the wall from which it is cut. When you cut a plane and move it away from the wall, you create a three-dimensional effect. The lamp turns into a sculpture. For safety reasons, it must be fixed to the wall at two points on the top (accordingly to the assembly manual).
When looked from the side, the leaning sheet produces a 13,5cm wide triangular gap with the wall. The entire electrical and lighting systems are located at the back, taking advantage from this gap between the two aluminium sheets. The warm and diffuse light only comes out through both the hole at the base and the groove at the top.
The result is a calm and relaxing light. Even turned off, this lighting sculpture stimulates our imagination and becomes a storyteller. Who’s inside the wall? What is happening there? How big is the mouse’s house? The hole is the gateway to a parallel universe.
