The proposal: a pavilion inside a renaissance building in the center of Milan. How to intervene in an already standing structure, in the most respectful way possible while, simultaneously, create a new function for the space? The essence of the proposal was to create a meeting place, a resting place, a place for palavers and pauses…a breath to take in the midst of the agitation of the design forum of Milan.

And, where is it that in our experience as Brazilians , all of this becomes possible? At the beach.

A platform of black marble, suspended 20 cm from the floor, building a new space that rests atop the original floor, creating the impression of one single space, free, and equally black beach chairs are spread along this platform, hanging loosely in the space, bringing informality and freedom.

A translucent polycarbonate box extends from the marble base as a flashlight that, at night, becomes alive and lights the space. In this box, all of the supporting infra-structure necessary for the team to operate the damn in Milan, as well as, to protect the speakers and visitors from inclement weather.
