Studio mk27 was invited by the Italian brand Viabizzuno to design a bulb that can be adapted to the “lâmpada n55”, system, created by Mario Nani

The “lâmpada n55” is a propeller, an LED light dissipator with a system that fits into diferente bulb sizes and that was created for the collection by other invited architects: David Chipperfield, Kengo Kuma, Winy Maas and Peter Zumthor.

The innovative system permits the user to change the bulb and the LED light source. The power supply automatically recognizes the two variants and adapts itself for a better result. The piece lasts for 70.000 hours. The bulb system n55 is totally detachable allowing anybody to change the light source (in case the LED dies out). In this way you drastically reduce costs and waste of material in case there is a need to change the light source.

In order to filter the light, the source was wrapped by a brass perforated plaque. In this manner, the light dissipates homogenously throughout the entire surface of the bulb. The mk02 bulb is made from borosilicate glass.

The bulbs can be used in table or hanging lamps.

The source of the inspiration for studiomk27 was the old radio and television electronic valves. The memory of an outdated technology, used in science fiction movies joined to the moderness of a new system.
